The third day of the Giorgio Armani Tennis Classic saw World No. 4. and British No.1  Jack Draper take on World No. 8,  Holger Rune in a thriller that went all the way to a tie break with Draper coming out triumphant.

Holger Rune wasted no time, breaking Jack Draper's serve in the opening game of the first set, dominating with an array of stunning drop volleys to win it. But Draper, fuelled by a roaring crowd, mounted a fierce comeback in the second. Despite facing a daunting 40-0 deficit and hitting two double faults on his own serve, he dramatically recovered with back-to-back aces to hold. Draper then went on to break Rune to take a 4-2 lead, ultimately securing the second set. The deciding tie-break saw Draper clinch a convincing 10-4 victory, sealing the match with a display of fantastic serves and volleys.

Speaking on his win, Draper said: “I loved it. Playing against Holger who is obviously a top ten player and someone I have huge respect for, and to get a match before Wimbledon at this event offers the players a great opportunity to adapt to the grasscourts and get a feel for the game”.

Another highlight of the day was the clash between Luciano Darderi and fellow Italian, former World No. 6 Matteo Berrettini. Berrettini emerged victorious after a thrilling 14-12 tie-break.

Some of the biggest stars and legends of the game are taking to the court throughout the tournament, including the likes of Mark Philippoussis, Thomas Enqvist, Mansour Bahrami, and Feliciano López who also played a doubles match on the grass courts later in the afternoon.
