Second Day of The Giorgio Armani Tennis Classic Saw Victory for Khachanov and Eubanks

25 June 2025

The second day of the Giorgio Armani Tennis Classic kicked off with a match between fan favourite Karen Khachanov and returning player Zizou Bergs, with Khachanov coming out triumphant.

The first set came to a tight 3-3 with Bergs taking a floor somersault in the third game. The competition intensified as the set hit 5-5 before Khachanov starting take the lead after a series of ace serves. Bergs came back fighting, winning 40-love in the first game of the second set. However, it wasn’t enough with Khachanov ultimately snapping up the victory in two sets.

Speaking on his win, Khachanov said: “Maybe I should get a membership here I don’t know! It’s an extremely beautiful court and great to play here before the championships at Wimbledon next week. There were so many great rallies and like 17 aces, but I had the chance to break Zizou and I took it. I always enjoy playing here and looking forward to coming back on Friday to play Novak which I hope will be a great match.”

As the afternoon progressed, American players and close friends, Christopher Eubanks and Frances Tiafoe took to centre court. It was Eubanks first match at the Hurlingham Club and he beat Tiafoe in a tie break. Featuring plenty of aces, Eubanks took the lead with a 6-3 victory in the first set. Tiafoe launched his comeback in the second set with a wicked serve and a series of aces in which Eubank replied with a smirk “it’s no fun to watch”. The second set reached a tie break, before Eubanks took the victory.

Speaking on his win, Eubanks said: “Frances beat me a while back, so it was good to get a little bit of revenge there. For my celebration, everyone’s got their signature one, so I thought I’d just lay out on the court on the grass and soak it in. The courts here are great; I was really happy with the match and great preparation for Wimbledon.”

Some of the biggest stars and legends of the game are taking to the court throughout the tournament, including the likes of Mansour Bahrami, David Ferrer, Thomas Enqvist and Feliciano Lopez who also played a doubles match on the grass courts later in the afternoon.

Today, attendees can look forward to an exciting match between British No. 1 Jack Draper and Danish star and World No. 8 Holger Rune.

Tournament Director, Nikhil Waugh said: “It’s great to be back at the Hurlingham Club for the 31st edition of the Giorgio Armani Tennis Classic. We were pleased to welcome back players like Frances Tiafoe and to see new names such as Stefanos Tsitsipas join the line-up—both performed well today and contributed to a strong start to the event.”

Attendees will have exclusive access to the pristine grounds of The Hurlingham Club, two ATP singles matches featuring top ranked players and a legends doubles match. Guests will also be treated to complimentary Whispering Angel rosé and other wines, cocktails, beers, and soft drinks from the comfort of a reserved grandstand seat.
