Stefanos Tsitsipas Defeats Frances Tiafoe in Giorgio Armani Tennis Classic Debut Match

24 June 2025

The Giorgio Armani Tennis Classic kicked off today – the first of five taking place at The Hurlingham Club until Saturday 28th June 2025.

In his debut at the Classic, Stefanos Tsitsipas defeated Frances Tiafoe two sets to one in an exhibition match lasting over two hours, setting the tone for an exciting week at the Hurlingham Club. After a closely contested match and a two-sets-all tie, Tsitsipas secured the win with a 10–7 victory in the final 10-point tiebreak.

There was no shortage of smiles from the crowd as the two entertained fans with exciting rallies and incredible shots. Tiafoe will be up against fellow American Chrispher Eubanks, looking to secure a win ahead of Wimbledon.

Speaking on his win, Tsitsipas said: “I’ve never seen myself serve like this, and I thank you for giving me the space and time to execute it, and I hope I can come up with those kinds of serves at Wimbledon. I’ve never played here before, but the grounds are lovely, and I’ve had a great time.”

Some of the biggest stars and legends of the game are taking to the court throughout the tournament, including the likes of Thomas Enqvist, Feliciano López, Mark Philippoussis, and Mansour Bahrami who also played a doubles match on the grass courts later in the afternoon.

Tournament Director, Nikhil Waugh said: “It’s great to be back at the Hurlingham Club for the 31st edition of the Giorgio Armani Tennis Classic. We were pleased to welcome back players like Frances Tiafoe and to see new names such as Stefanos Tsitsipas join the line-up—both performed well today and contributed to a strong start to the event.”

Attendees will have exclusive access to the pristine grounds of The Hurlingham Club, two ATP singles matches featuring top ranked players and a legends doubles match. Guests will also be treated to complimentary Whispering Angel rosé and other wines, cocktails, beers, and soft drinks from the comfort of a reserved grandstand seat.

A handful of tickets are still available for Saturday and for hospitality across select weekdays. Visit https://www.giorgioarmanitennisclassic.com/the-experience to book your courtside seat.
